Jane Logan

principal viola

Ottawa became home for American violist Jane Logan in 1971 when she accepted a position in the viola section of the then two-year-old National Arts Centre Orchestra. Since then she has become well-known for her extensive chamber music activity and as a teacher, both private and as a faculty member at the University of Ottawa. In 1980, Ms. Logan became principal violist of NACO and has been heard as viola soloist with the orchestra both in Ottawa and on tour.

In addition to receiving degrees from Carleton College (Minnesota) and Yale University, Jane Logan has studied at the Aspen Music Festival, Tanglewood and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy. Her major teachers have included Broadus Erle, Bruno Giuranna, David Schwarz and Lillian Fuchs.
